It makes web-based content equally accessible to scholars and the interested public. <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">The term ArchaeOman is derived from the Greek root archaeo (from Ancient Greek \u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u03b1\u1fd6\u03bf\u03c2 <em>archaios<\/em>), which means \"old\" or \"ancient\"<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">and Oman, which expresses the regional context to the Sultanate of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>ArchaeOman is, in the first instance, meant to complement the existing and planned academic publications (articles, chapters in edited volumes and monographs) with digital material. These are especially 3D models, panorama views and web GIS applications. They should not only contribute to archaeological research but also offer illustrative materials to the general public. In addition, short summaries of the results of the research are included.<\/p>\n<p>The following projects are presented:<\/p>\n<p>Bat (2010\u20132015), Al-Ayn (2010\u20132011), Al-Zebah (2011\u20132014), Al-Khubayb (2015), Muhaliyah (2016), Lizq (2017), the reuse of tombs (2015\u20132017), Tawi Said (2018), Al-Khashbah (2015\u20132019), the Al-Mudhaybi Survey (2019\u20132022), UmWeltWandel (2020\u20132024), as well as Sinaw (2026\u20132029).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-318-0-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-318-0-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div id=\"startsidebar\" class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-318-0-1-0\" textwidget\">\n\t<p>14.04.2025: The proceedings of the international conference \"Human-Environment Interactions in Ancient Arabia\", published <a href=\"https:\/\/openquaternary.com\/collections\/Human-Environment-Interactions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Access<\/a> as a special collection in Open Quaternary, are almost complete.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>27.07.2024: New publication on Early Bronze Age towers: \"Landmarks of Identity: Bronze Age Towers of the Oman Peninsula\" (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeopress.com\/Archaeopress\/Products\/9781803278193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Access<\/a>)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>31.03.2024: Archaeopress has published the final publication about the research in Tawi Said, available both in print and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeopress.com\/Archaeopress\/Products\/9781803276960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Access<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>29.03.2024: An article about the UmWeltWandel project entitled \"Leben mit dem Verschwinden des Wassers \u2013 Wie Menschen in der Bronzezeit mit Umweltver\u00e4nderungen umgingen\" has been published in <a href=\"https:\/\/wbg-zeitschriften.de\/produkt\/antike-puppen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antike Welt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>05.02.2024: In January, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeoman.de\/en\/umweltwandel-3d-models\/wanderausstellung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">touring exhibition<\/a> on past environmental change opened in T\u00fcbingen and will then travel to Frankfurt, Mainz and G\u00f6ttingen.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>10.11.2023: From 6 to 8 November, the University of T\u00fcbingen hosted an international conference entitled \"<a href=\"https:\/\/heiaa.archaeoman.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Human-Environment Interactions in Ancient Arabia<\/a>\".<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>20.02.2023: On 26 February, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeoman.de\/en\/umweltwandel-3d-modelle\/al-mudhaybi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exhibition<\/a> on the archaeology and environment of the Al-Mudhaybi region was opened at the Municipality's banqueting hall.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>22.12.2022: The UmWeltWandel project has created a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeoman.de\/en\/the-joint-research-project-umweltwandel-2\/kids\/comic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comic book<\/a> for children that can be viewed online and downloaded.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>08.12.2021: Archaeopress has published the first of the final publications about the research in Al-Khashbah, available both in print and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeopress.com\/archaeopressshop\/public\/displayProductDetail.asp?id={110AF2C6-032E-40D4-A074-72516EB1267A}\">Open Access<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>05\/11\/2021: The workshop \"Surveying Oman - Methods of Archaeologcial Exploration in Eastern Arabia\" was held at Goethe University Frankfurt with international participants.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>06\/08\/2021: The second of the
