It makes web-based content equally accessible to scholars and the interested public. The term ArchaeOman is composed of two components. \u2018Archaeo\u2019 is a Greek prefix and means \u2018old, and \u2018Oman\u2019 bears the regional reference to the Sultanate of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>ArchaeOman is, in the first instance, meant to complement the existing and planned academic publications (articles, chapters in edited volumes and monographs) with digital material. These are especially 3D models, panorama views and web GIS applications. They should not only contribute to archaeological research but also offer illustrative materials to the general public. In addition, short summaries of the results of the research are included.<\/p>\n<p>The following projects are presented:<\/p>\n<p>B\u0101t (2010\u20132015), Al-Ayn (2010\u20132011), Al-Zebah (2011\u20132014), Al-Khubayb (2015), Muhaliyah (2016), Al-Khashbah (since 2015), as well as the reuse of tombs (since 2015).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-6154-0-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-6154-0-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-6154-0-1-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h3 class=\"widget-title\">News<\/h3>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>22\/11\/2018:\u00a0 The research on the Early Bronze Age landscape of central Oman is possible thanks to satellite imagery from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalglobefoundation.org\">DigitalGlobe foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>31\/10\/2018:\u00a0 The first volume of the series Arabia Orientalis titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harrassowitz-verlag.de\/Beyond_Tombs_and_Towers\/title_5704.ahtml\"><em>Beyond Tombs and Towers<\/em><\/a>, edited by Stephanie D\u00f6pper, has been released.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>21\/08\/2018:\u00a0 Four articles from the <em>Proceedings of the Seminar for Arabian Studies<\/em> are now available as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archaeopress.com\/ArchaeopressShop\/Public\/defaultAll.asp?OpenAccess=Y&amp;intro=true\">Open Access<\/a> downloads<span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><\/span>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>11\/06\/2018:\u00a0 On the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebfsa.org\/seminar\/papers-and-posters\/\">Seminar for Arabian Studies 2018<\/a> in London in August there will be a paper about Al-Khashbah <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">with the latest excavation results and analyses on various groups of findings<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>10\/05\/2018:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeoman.de\/en\/bat-3d-modelle-funde\/\">3D-models<\/a> of small finds from Bat have been added to the website.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>25\/02\/2018: Local newspapers, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.muscatdaily.com\/Archive\/Oman\/Excavations-in-Mudhaibi-find-copper-production-workshops-5740\">Muscat Daily<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/gulfnews.com\/news\/gulf\/oman\/oldest-bronze-age-tower-workshop-found-in-oman-1.2176796\">Gulf News<\/a>, report on the start of the field season at Al-Khashbah.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>10\/01\/2018:\u00a0 In the Mitteilungen der Deutschen Orient-Gesellschaft 149 our report on the 2015 and 2016 field seasons has been published.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>15\/11\/2017:\u00a0 The website ArchaeOman officially launched.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ArchaeOman is a cross-project information platform for the field of Near Eastern Archaeology with the emphasis on Oman.
